Leadership - Ms. Gwen

Ms. Gwen

I was about to write this LLM when I heard that infamous little "bing" that tells you have an email. The sender was Ms. Gwen. She sent me an encouraging thought and let me know that she was thinking of me. Ms. Gwen is a leader to many. She has led families through difficult situations, she has overseen building projects for those who needed shelter, mentored more people than I can name and has a wide circle of influence. She is business savvy and loves to think strategically about the big picture. She has invested in people of all ages with her time, energy and finances. She has offered her home to the homeless and rolled up her sleeves and made things happen whenever there was a need.

Multiple families count on Ms. Gwen's leadership and wisdom. Her faith is strong and her walk is sure. She unashamedly loves her God, her country and her community. She is a cancer survivor and is currently in the middle of another battle with that evil disease. Ms. Gwen is 86 years young.

She is a reminder that leadership is a lifestyle not a title.

Leadership does not retire. It is not dependent or contingent upon a place of employment or position within an organization. It is fluid and flows through the course of our lives in both good times and bad... A true leader continues to influence, encourage and serve across his entire life span in multiple venues and diverse situations.

Reaching out to others that we influence, regardless of our situation is a sign of an effective and powerful leader. May we all choose to lead as enthusiastically and selflessly as this seasoned leader has done. Thank you Ms. Gwen for making a difference!
